The print is the point
Anyone can sell the image — it’s public domain. What you’re buying here is the object: how faithfully, and how durably, the masterwork lands on your wall.
- Museum-grade cotton-rag
- Heavyweight archival cotton-rag stock — the same acid-free paper conservators trust — not thin poster stock.
- Archival pigment, 100+ years
- Pigment inks, not dye: rated to hold their colour past a century without fading or shifting.
- Colour-managed to the source
- Each file is profiled to the holding institution’s own scan, so the print reads as the painting does.
- Gallery canvas on solid wood

The story
Van Gogh set up his easel in the square at Arles and painted through the night, outdoors, by gaslight — the first of his great night pictures. He was proud that it contained no black at all: the darkness is deep blue and violet, and against it the café’s awning blazes a sulphurous yellow that spills across the cobbles. Stars prick the sky above the rooftops, drawn as small flowers of light. A few figures sit at the tables; a waiter stands in the glow. It is warmth carved out of a vast blue dark, which is very nearly a definition of what a café is for.
