THE OLD MASTERS

The print is the point

Anyone can sell the image — it’s public domain. What you’re buying here is the object: how faithfully, and how durably, the masterwork lands on your wall.

Museum-grade cotton-rag
Heavyweight archival cotton-rag stock — the same acid-free paper conservators trust — not thin poster stock.
Archival pigment, 100+ years
Pigment inks, not dye: rated to hold their colour past a century without fading or shifting.
Colour-managed to the source
Each file is profiled to the holding institution’s own scan, so the print reads as the painting does.
Gallery canvas on solid wood

The story

One of four panels in which Mucha personified Dance, Painting, Poetry and Music as women, each set in an arched niche against a decorative ground. Dance is the most kinetic of them: she twists, arms raised, her drapery and her long hair whipping to the left as though a wind had just crossed the panel, while a spray of autumn leaves blows through behind her. Mucha builds the whole sense of movement out of line alone, with almost no modelling. Sold as an affordable decorative print for ordinary households — the democratic idea at the heart of Art Nouveau, that beauty should be printable.
